5 Ways to Get Over Your Fear of Change This Summer

After a long break buried in books and study sessions, we’re finally back—and it feels so good to be writing to you guys again!

Now that we’re entering a season full of potential, let’s talk about something that tends to hold many of us back: fear of change. Whether it’s starting a new job, moving cities, heading into the next school year, or simply shifting your mindset, change can feel scary. But summer is the perfect time to lean into it.

So to help you blossoms, we gathered our top 5 ways to get over your fear of change this summer—without overwhelming yourself:

1. Romanticise New Beginnings

Instead of focusing on what you’re leaving behind, try focusing on what you’re stepping into. Create a Pinterest board for your “New Chapter.” Think of it like a main character montage. Add quotes and motivational pictures to help get you in the right mindset before your big change. Romanticising change doesn’t mean ignoring the hard parts, but it does mean allowing yourself to be excited, even just a little.

2. Take Tiny Risks Every Day

You don’t have to make huge leaps to prove you’re brave. Real change often starts small. Whether it’s saying yes to a spontaneous plan, trying a new recipe, or starting a conversation with someone new, micro-bravery builds your tolerance for bigger changes. Start by making a list of “10 things I’ve never done before”—and do one per week this summer. Keep it light and fun!

3. Reflect on Times You’ve Already Changed

You’ve done this before. Maybe not in the exact same way—but you’ve already faced new schools, awkward first days, ended friendships, moved houses, tried things that scared you, and survived things you never thought you’d get through. Change isn’t new to you. What’s new is simply your awareness of it. Looking back at past versions of yourself—ones that took brave steps, made tough decisions, or simply kept going—can give you the proof your present self needs.

4. Let Go of the “Perfect Timing” Mindset

Waiting until you feel 100% ready? That day may never come. Summer is full of imperfect, beautiful moments—so use the season as permission to begin before you feel fully prepared. Growth happens in the doing. Don’t fear the thought of not being ready… you have time. Just keep pushing forward.

5. Surround Yourself with People Who Are Growing Too

It’s so much easier to change when you’re not doing it alone. Find a friend, sibling, or online community who’s also shifting things in their life. Sharing wins (and fears!) can make the whole process way less intimidating. Maybe even make a summer group chat with all your friends about the specific change that you’re experiencing.

Change is uncomfortable—but so is staying stuck.

Let this summer be your season of softness and courage. You don’t have to become a brand new person overnight—but you do owe it to yourself to move forward. We believe in you.
